Vermont Fibershed Definitions

Vermont Fibershed Directory will include listings for Vermont-based producers and processors of natural fibers as well as Vermont Businesses that provide services to the industry. The directory also includes VSGA members from bordering states.

Fiber Producers are Vermont-based businesses that raise and harvest natural fibers, either plant-based or from their animals, including sheep, goats, camelids and rabbits.

Artisan Fiber Producers are Vermont-based businesses that produce and process some or all of their Vermont-raised products in-house and sell them directly to consumers.

Fiber Processors are Vermont-based Fiber Mills and Fiber Craft Professionals who provide production services on a contract basis to include knitting, crocheting, spinning, weaving, felting, dyeing, sewing/tailoring and other related fiber crafts.

Service providers are Vermont-based businesses that offer services to fiber producers such as shearing and tanning.

Vermont Fibershed Resource List will include listings for businesses and services that may be based outside the state, but are important resources for Vermont fiber producers, processors and consumers.
