Are you looking for a fun, nearby, cost-effective, creative retreat to attend this summer? Grab a like-minded friend and look no further than the Northeast Handspinners Gathering 2026 for a getaway!
Want a deeper understanding and enhanced technique for your spinning practice, or to try your hand at spinning baste fibers? How about hands-on dyeing of fiber using natural dyes? Or how to weave and take home a basket you can use? Or perhaps you want to try 2-D felting, or how to make a portfolio to save all of your samples?
Join The Gathering on Friday late afternoon for an opening reception and shopping with vendors in the marketplace, followed by dinner and then an informal gathering. Friday will include some time for beginner spinners to sit with more experienced spinners for some coaching.
Take classes on Saturday followed by The Gathering in the evening with a very special guest Rebecca Bayreuther Donohue. She is co-founder of the Dirty Blue Shirts, a living history organization, and she will present “Knit As To Turn Water – The History of New England’s Maritime Knitting.”
There are more classes on Sunday morning followed by lunch and departure. Shop the Marketplace all weekend, and hang out with old and new friends!
The event will take place at the lovely University Hall, where the school has just released a large, additional block of single sleeping rooms (arranged in quads), and eating in the School Cafeteria. Many of those who attended New England Weavers Seminars (NEWS) at Westfield in 2025 were very impressed with the accommodations, classrooms and café!
