Dyeing with Jane Woodhouse
Natural Dye Intensive at Spring Retreat
The Retreat Dyeing Session will feature this class with Jane Woodhouse:
Saturday all day and Sunday morning
This class will offer new and improved techniques for both beginner through advanced dyers. The hands-on class presentation concentrates on methodology that allows for reproduction of colors. We will mix stock solutions for 5 colorfast natural dye extracts and mix them in varying ratios to produce color gradations from dye color to dye color. Our first day of class will be calculating and mixing dyes, and running samples on both natural white and natural gray yarns.
Day 2 will focus on some indigo dyeing. Again we will calculate a vat and overdye samples of the primary colors we are using. This morning session will be spent sorting and labeling samples and a final wrap up of our work.
This is a full and busy class that will take place in the heated greenhouse at nearby Honey Field Farm.
