Virtual Fleece to Shawl Contest
Sponsored by Vermont Fibershed
Vermont Fibershed is sponsoring a Virtual Fleece to Shawl Fiber Arts Contest with a $300 prize as part of this year’s Vermont Sheep & Wool Festival.
The Virtual Fleece to Shawl category is designed to produce a finished garment using Vermont-raised or grown fiber. It is “Virtual” in that the work will be done prior to the Festival and documented with text and photos that will be displayed at the Festival along with the finished garment.
The contest category is designed for a Team of 3 to 5 members, including one Vermont Fiber Producer.
For details, please visit the Vermont Sheep & Wool Festival website.
We’re looking forward to seeing some beautiful shawls made with Vermont fiber!
I have a shawl made from indie fiber dyer Monica McNeill. Roundmountainfibers in Brattleboro. Would this qualify for the contest
I live in Florida so I don’t know if I have to send the item or just a picture
The Virtual Fleece to Shawl contest is a team entry. You begin with the raw fleece, do each step in the process and provide documentation. You need at least 3 people, including the fiber producer (the farmer) on your team. It sounds like your shawl should be submitted as a regular contest category, not the fleece to shawl. And, yes, you will need to submit the finished garment.
